This charming city has a rich history that has shaped its present day culture. It was incorporated in 1903 by Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin, who was a prominent businessman in the early days of the state of California. He founded the first thoroughbred horse race track in the state of California and later founded Santa Anita Park.
The history of the City of Arcadia is reflected in its many historic landmarks, as well as in the diverse collections housed at the Library and Historical Museum. This collection consists of photographs, newspaper clippings, Arcadia city phone directories, school yearbooks, scrapbooks, and ephemera that document the people, places, and events that have defined the history of Arcadia.
